The All-New 2019 Toyota RAV4 Debuts in NY

The New York International Auto Show went full-swing this week, and there were a lot of really exciting introductions and concepts brought out.

But there's one big piece of news that makes all the others seem pretty boring:

For the first time since 2013--a lifetime for the car world--Toyota has released a completely-new, completely-redesigned RAV4 compact SUV. While the 2018 model brought some cool new updates, we're excited to see the new style.

The new 2019 Toyota RAV4 looks bigger, badder, bolder, and better than any generation before it. Gone are the days of subtlety and practicality. Welcome to the new Toyota.

A Whole New Platform for the RAV4

This new 2019 Toyota RAV4 is built on the brand's New Global Architecture Platform--the very same that also built up the all-new Camry, and will be the underpinning for every new model redesign in the future.

It's not hard to see the similarities in Toyota's hard change to design language, because the new 2019 RAV4 features a lot of the aggressive curves, sharp angles, and ferocious looks that we also see on the popular Camry.

Is Apple CarPlay Possible?

Toyota has hinted that Apple CarPlay--and potentially Android Auto, too--may start making its way into the infotainment systems of popular new Toyota models, including the Avalon and the 2019 RAV4. Until now, Toyota has counted on its Entune systems to provide smartphone connectivity.

Smart new tech like Toyota Safety Sense features and Entune audio, though, are nearly guaranteed to be included inside the all-new 2019 RAV4 SUV.

Stay in the Loop

Since the 2019 Toyota RAV4 was just trotted out this week, we're left with a lot more questions than answers: horsepower, torque, fuel economy, specs, and feature information will be released later once the newest RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid get a little closer to a production date.

And the release date? Well, don't hold your breath for too long--industry estimates say that we'll have to wait until the end of 2018 to see the all-new RAV4 in PA dealerships, and even later (early 2019) for the all-new RAV4 Hybrid.
