Toyota Crown front seat interior design.
Imagine your eyes closed, knowing nothing about the car you were just placed in. Then, you open them. A cutting-edge 12.3-inch diagonal color touchscreen infotainment system is laid out in front of you, in the middle of the dashboard. Fancy soft-touch coatings exist throughout, along with a comfortable black woven cloth upholstery. Matte-bronze inserts line the dash and around the air vents, creating contrast with the otherwise black surroundings. A leather clad steering wheel and shift lever are also visible.

By then, you’re probably assuming you're sitting inside an expensive luxury sedan. But you're not. You’re inside a Toyota – the all-new 2023 Toyota Crown to be exact.

Interior Features

The Toyota Crown, a hybrid essentially replacing the Avalon in the brand’s new model lineup, arrives this month. With it comes an interior unlike anything Toyota drivers in the United States have ever seen and experienced. The differences start even before you’re fully inside. The Crown’s 5.8 inches of ground clearance, higher than traditional sedans, makes the getting in and out process more like a crossover than midsize sedan. Here are some of the many other interior features you’ll find throughout the Crown’s three trim levels (XLE, Limited, and Platinum).
  • Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging.
  • LED front and rear reading lights and a cargo area light.
  • Four USB-C charge ports — two front/two rear.
  • One USB-A charge port — front console.
  • Two front and two rear cup holders; two front-door and one rear bottle holder.
  • Fixed Panoramic Roof (Limited and Platinum trims).
  • Heated front and rear seats. (Limited and Platinum trims).
  • Heated steering wheel. (Limited and Platinum trims).

A black finish adorns the Crown’s base XLE trim level interior. Seats are upholstered in high-quality SofTex®, a synthetic leather-type material. A step up to the Limited trim results in genuine leather seats with three interior color options: Black, Macadamia, and a Black/Dark Chestnut combination. The top Platinum trim just offers black leather seats. However, Platinum includes exclusive features like a telescopic steering wheel with paddle shifters and digital key capabilities.

Interior Dimensions

The Crown is Toyota’s largest sedan. As a result, it includes the most interior space. This is especially evident in the backseat. The 2023 Crown’s rear leg room is 4.1 inches longer than the 2023 Toyota Corolla, and nearly one inch longer than the 2023 Toyota Camry.

Here are how the Toyota Crown's interior space and features measure up against a few competing midsize sedans.
